A Crazy Passion for Jesus

A crazy passion? It sounds pretty serious, right? I think a healthy relationship with Jesus Christ needs a bit of this crazy passion stuff I was talking about. I know with my own friendship with God that sometimes I need to get up and do something for God, I am only young and don't often get a calling from God but sometimes I feel it, I feel the need to write in my blog or pray or just read the bible and take something from it. It might not sound like much but it really makes a difference in my life, even if it is just 10 minutes of my day. Recently I helped at my church holiday bible club, Route 3:16, I came home feeling refreshed and new, each day was a challenge but a joy! I really got a buzz from those few days of my summer holidays helping younger people know God and grow to love him. I could only hope and pray that God would change some of the kids lives and make them new, I know some of them did turn to the Lord and have been wiped clean, but others might need more time. So I would call that a blast of crazy passion. I have noticed in the past year that God has worked in me to create a young willing follower of Christ, I have believed from a very small age but in the past few years I have changed, and I know that a huge part of that change has been down to my youth ministry, best in the world in my opinion! From Elevate to D.ship to Teen Track there is so much fun, laughter and great teaching. I know God is at the top working through all these people but God chose 1st Saintfield Presbyterian Youth Ministry to work in... Amazing.
I have just been away in Spain with my family for a week, it refreshed me in a different way but as soon as I am home, I am writing my thoughts on the web, normally after not writing for a long time I wouldn't bother, but I feel God bringing me back, giving me this crazy passion for Jesus and his teachings and what he has to say.
I was reading a book in Spain about this guy called Josh. His life as a child and a teen was great he was involved in baseball, bible club, and he enjoyed his life and had a strong bond with Jesus. He fell in love with a girl named Becky, she was wonderful, she was beautiful, and a willing Christian too. Josh took up smoking and drinking and he went a bit of the rails for a while, thinking that he would forget about college and go with the flow. Becky, his girlfriend noticed this and she confronted him, she told him that they couldn't be together until he sorted himself out, quit smoking, made a decision about college and cut down on drinking. He didn't accomplish any of these things until they had left school. A few years later he quit smoking, drinking and picked up his relationship with God again. He never saw Becky but he still loved her and he would never love anyone the same again. He took a trip to Vegas and met a woman he needed some relief from his stressful life so he spent a few days with her, she fell pregnant and asked for money each month for the child, the truth was he didn't have any money. He couldn't pay so she said he could see his daughter Savannah. He didn't go to college and took the job of a tow truck driver. One night two girls were asking directions from him, a drunk driver swerved and was coming for them. He pushed the two girls out of the way but the car hit his shoulder, until he lost weight he couldn't have the surgery he needed on his back to stop the constant pain he had. He had lost 60lbs but still needed to loose 40lbs. Sometimes Savannah was what was keeping him alive, he longed to be her Daddy. It was 3 years since the accident and he had been in court for those three years waiting for a settlement. His attorney asked for 2million dollars and that was accepted. Josh had been watching something on T.V. when a song came on about heaven and imagining about heaven, he prayed to God asking for forgiveness for everything he'd done and his relationship with God grew in a few days 3 days later, before the settlement was agreed Josh died in his sleep. It does have a happy ending but I have babbled about it enough, what I'm trying to say is that God gave Josh what he needed, he needed Jesus and he needed to know he was safe. He was so happy for those few days, he'd been happy since for the first time since Becky ended their relationship. God called Josh home at a young age but God knows what is right and his family believed that Josh had had a happy last few days getting to know his Saviour all over again.
Sometimes we need little things in life that give us a burst of energy like a cup of coffee wakes you up or a can of coke gives you a burst of life. Jesus can be our burst of energy, he can lift the weight off our shoulders and set us free, to give us a crazy passion for Jesus.
